I recently had the opportunity to receive and review a box from Surprise Ride.  I am so incredibly impressed by this company and what they are doing, and I was really honored to have the opportunity to receive and review this box. I really encourage you to read this review to the end because you have an opportunity to get a free box for yourself just by leaving a comment on this post. For real! No catch!

Surprise Ride was started by sisters and aunts of two active and curious boys. They were struggling to find unique gifts that would add value to their nephews lives. Hoping to return to their roots when the best memories were getting immersed in activities with family, they created Surprise Ride

I know I am not the only way who has struggled in buying innovative gifts for kids I love and especially my own four children. I am constantly asked by relatives "What can I get your kiddo for their birthday or Christmas." I've struggled to come up with things that won't simply fall into the toy box abyss at our house. I have written previously on my Blog about non-traditional gift giving. Trying to give memories and experiences instead of toys and "things."

Surprise Ride is just that!

Here's how it works. Aunts, uncles, grandparents, or those that love a child can buy one or more boxes to send to the special child in their life. The boxes are approximately $25-$35 each, but there are lots of coupons and deals you can get a hold of to cut down on your costs. You can buy just a one-time box or you can buy a subscription for 3, 6 or 12 months.

Each box arrives in a reusable box with all kinds of fun activities centering around a fun theme. The first box I received (with a coupon) was on Brazil -- in preparation for the Rio olympics. The second box I received to write this review had to do with pirates.

Here's just a sampling of what might be included in a box:

Each box aims to foster creativity in kids and expand their horizons. While I am writing this review, my kiddos are currently going all over the house on a treasure hunt. Their box came with a bag of "fool's gold" and cool pencils and map for them to make their own treasure map that their siblings can follow to find the "treasure." They love this!

With a little hands-on learning and a lot of fun, the people at Surprise Ride help kids exercise that special power of creative genius that empowers them to be tomorrow's innovators. I think most everyone agrees that there's no better way for kids to learn than by doing. My kids used up all the maps presented in their box and got out their own paper to continue the game on their own. Here is a picture (right) of my Sidge getting to open their box of pirate goodies.
There was a fun snack, a pirate chest to paint and decorate, the cool map and treasure hunt activity, and this adorable book:

Of course those of you who have been reading my Blog for any period of time know that we lost our Dalmatian, Scrubs, just a few months ago. So seeing this book was especially moving for all of us. It will be one that is on our library for many years to come! Here are all four of my kiddos going through all the cool stuff included in the box.

My kiddos rage in age from almost 3 to 8. My 3-year-old was a bit too young for this box but it was perfect for all three of my other kiddos. Here are some pictures of the fun going in our house today:

The girls very interested in the snack.

Isaac working on his treasure hunt plans!

Folks I am so impressed with this company. I am impressed with their customer service and with the box itself. Everything is in color and bright and cheery and just .... happy! My kids were so excited to open the box. It was truly a fantastic time for our family.

I think this is a perfect gift for a grandparent to give to a child for their birthday or Christmas. It can work for a family with just one child but also allows multiple children to share as well. While I don't think we will do these monthly, I am REALLY hoping one of our family members scoops up this idea for us. And I also think I will continue to pounce on one of these boxes anytime I find a coupon!

And now ... the exciting part. Surprise Ride is giving my Blog one box FREE! That's right. I am doing a give-away, and the winner gets a box delivered to their house. So cool. All you have to do is leave a comment with your first name and email address. I am reserving just two days for comments to be left, and then I will choose a blog comment at random to be the recipient of the give-away.

Don't miss out on this opportunity.

And even if you don't win, please jump over to this website and take a look at this company. There is a coupon right now for $5 off of a box. You can buy individual boxes or a subscription. The choice is your's.

So leave a comment and get shopping today!

P.S. If you decide to order a box from this company PLEASE use my coupon. You will get your first month free if you choose a subscription service, and I get a $10 credit. You just have to click here to use this.

This is fantastic! I struggle with what to tell family as well because the last thing my kids need is more stuff! This sounds like something the boys would love!
