Through the night

Last night Hannah did her first "through-the-night". She ended up feeding pretty late (9pm), was asleep by 10:30pm and slept until 5am. Technically I count this as her first "through-the-night". I think she will still do the 3am feed for quite some time and figure this was a bit more of a "fluke" but either way, it's exciting when the end of the long nights begins to draw to a close!

We have started "sleep training" with her which includes allowing her to "cry it out" after we are sure she is full. The first night, it didn't take more than 15 minutes! In the middle of the night, I again allowed her to "cry it out" after her feed the other night, and again, less than 15 minutes!

Congrats! So you allow her to "cry it out" at night when she goes down first and if she wakes up during the night? Just curious about what you do for naps during the day and if you let her cry it out then.

We let her cry it out to initially fall asleep at night. Once she is asleep, she sleeps 3 to 4 or more hours. When she wakes up in the middle of the night, I immediately get her and feed her but again, once she is totally fed, we lay her back down, awake, and if she cries, let her cry herself back to sleep.

We believe that a baby learning that they don't need mom or dad to fall asleep is key to our sanity!

Uggs. B was almost 3 before he slept through the night. And even at 4, he still has problems. LOL!
