I'm not sure how you say it in Portuguese, but the English translation of these pink flowers is "Girls Going to School." They are given this name because they come out at this time of year, when kids would go to school. They literally pop up overnight. I'm not kidding. One day there are two of them, and the next day there are seemingly hundreds! This is something I want to remember years from now when this is no longer the look out from my balcony.

I saw those same flowers last week! We drove to the coast in Northern California and they were all along the sides of the road and I kept saying I was going to stop and take pictures of them but never did :( They are so pretty!
