Still in Dallas

So here's a funny story.

We are still in Dallas.

I'm actually back in the USO, typing away.

To make a very long story short, there was very bad weather last night around the panhandle of Florida. After being delayed two hours here at the airport in Dallas, there was concern that our flight would not be able to leave at all. When it finally was decided that it could leave, they decided they wanted to add extra gas to the plane in case it needed to be diverted to another airport. In order to add more fuel, they had to remove passengers. Thus a call for volunteers. Would we volunteer to give up our seats in exchange for a free night at Embassy Suites, $50 in food vouchers, and two free airline tickets for a future flight?

I really wanted to get home. But the idea of possibly being diverted to a different airport with two babies did not sound appealing. If you miss your flight for weather related issues, the airline does not do anything to compensate. JB and I discussed. It made a lot of sense. Secure lodging over night and two free tickets sounded much more appealing than possibly spending the night in an airport with two babies.

The even better news was that we are now flying into Valparaiso (right next to our house) instead of Pensacola. Our awesome friend Jodi who was going to pick us up last night in Pensacola, agreed to pick up Scrubs today from doggie camp and let him play with her dog Jackson for awhile until we got home. Everything worked out perfectly.

So we took the deal.

We had a wonderful night. The hotel was awesome. The food was awesome. Everything was awesome. I would have loved to be home, but we got two free tickets out of the deal. We also watched as our Pensacola flight sat on the runway for over 90 minutes before taking off. We both cringed at the thought of being on that tiny plane with both boys waiting an hour and a half before taking off and then holding them for another two hours during the flight. We also aren't even sure it made it to Pensacola last night at all.

So that's the story. Still in Dallas. Hopefully home on the 3:30 to Valparaiso!

Getting bumped is awesome. Probably not so awesome with two kids . . . . but a sweet deal none-the-less!
