Question

I really want to get some kids' Christian CDs to play around the house and in the van and that sort of thing. I'd like a good mixture. Some CDs that have the traditional kids Bible songs (Father Abraham, This Little Light of Mine ... that sort of thing.) But I'd also like some that sing scriptures so kids can memorize them. We don't have a good Christian bookstore around here so I plan to order them online. Does anyone have any good recommendations? I could pick some myself but who knows how good or bad they are until I buy them and discover they stink! The more details you can provide me with the better so I can easily find them and order them. Thanks everyone.

I Highly recommend anything by the GO Fish guys! They're a fun group with music kids love and it's the kind of music mom and dad don't get sick of listening to. They take some of the classics and jazz them up (This Little Light of Mine comes to mind as one that's pretty fun). gofishguys.com/cms is their website. I have heard all the albums but the only one I have is Snooze...that's a good one for naps (duh! shoulda thought of that when I bought it). Anyway, Good Luck!

If you can find a tape/CD of Bullfrogs and Butterflies, I highly recommend it. It's a few years old, but it was my FAVORITE growing up. It has an awesome song/story about Noah and the Ark.

Austin LOVES the Veggie Tales CDs. The Sunday Morning Songs CD by them is all traditional kids' Bible songs.

Christianbook.com carries a series called seeds of worship. They are Bible verses set to music for children. We own Seeds of Faith and Seeds of Courage. They are great. I highly recommend them.

Hide' em in your heart by Steve Green are excellent. There are 2 volumes and Dvds are available as well...which show kids singing. A total favourite at our house(both) and not the kind that gets on adult nerves. They are older(first came out in 1990)but still available... you won't regret these. (All verses by the way.) Cheerio, Mary

I've always found some decent selections at Walmart. I never think to visit the Christian bookstore in Roch. We have a few Veggie Tales CD's, a Bible Stories CD (tells a mini Bible story and then sings a song about it), and then a few Cedarmont Kids CD's. I don't think any of them have scripture set to music though. The boys actually learned Bible verses in Sunday school last year by singing them.

Hmmm, We have a Precious Moments one with a lot of songs like that...Father Abraham, Your Banner over Me is Love, etc. We LOVE it.

I just looked it up on amazon for you....Ethan has it in his room so we didn't have it out, but this is it:

http://www.amazon.com/Precious-Moments-Sunday-School-Sing-Along/dp/B000Q35RXG/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1247285314&sr=8-4

There was also another Precious Moments CD of hymns that looked nice.

ALSO, we love the CD's from Group's VBS's....lately we have been grooving to Crocodile Dock's cd. And after looking on Amazon I see you can buy the cd there:

http://www.amazon.com/Sing-Play-Swamp-Stomp-CD/dp/B002CNIUNW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1247285447&sr=1-1

Group.com also has children's cd's (and if you go to their vbs sites, you can sample the music from Croc Dock.

We love the Hide 'em in your Heart CD's by Steve Green, and also enjoy Kidzup - I think available at Walmart.

This is old school, but old Acapella songs are really great for kids, and they often are just directly quoting scripture. My DH grew up listening to these and still credits them with his knowledge of certain scriptures (and his ability to find a tenor line).

I love songsforsaplings.com.
There is a good cd with verses set to song and the other cds as the kids get older that teach about God and use verses. My kids love these. And, you can get the cd's replaced if they get scratched or don't work!
