While clearing a overgrown wild blackberry thicket, we came across this nest.
It belongs to a Brown Thrasher (Toxostoma rufum). We've been seeing, and hearing, them quite a bit over the last few weeks. Unfortunately, their numbers are declining due in large part to people not leaving suitable nest sites... such as the small area we were clearing!
Needless to say, we left the rest of the thicket in place!
