The good news? Today is a great day to celebrate the birthday of my Mom and my great friend from Minnesota, Kristen. Happy birthday to you both. I think you are both 21. Is that right?
The bad news? Huggies overnights failed in their second attempt. Both boys woke up at exactly the same time this morning which can be a little tricky in and of itself.
Grabbed Elijah first. Elijah wasn't wearing the overnights as he usually doesn't soak through. But soak through he did. Changed him from top to bottom and put him down on the floor of the living room on the boppie. Went to get Isaac. Isaac was in the Huggies overnights. Soaked completely through. Changed him from top to bottom. Gave him a cup of milk. Threw two sets of sheets, stuffed animals, and a blankets into the wash. Made and fed Elijah a bottle and fed him while reading Isaac books. 0-2 for this night.
Off to Elijah's physical therapy appointment. Hopefully this day will slow down soon.
Tonight we'll try again.

My sister had this problem with her son and for some reason discovered she couldn't put him in onesies overnight. I don't know what that would have to do with it, but she used the overnight diapers with just a top and bottom and had fewer accidents. Just thought I'd pass that along! Also, we have the soak through issue if we give Charlie his last drink right before he goes to bed. If we wait 30-45 minutes and then change him into his overnight diaper, we have fewer incidents since he's able to go before bed. Not sure if either of those ideas will work for you!
I have G diaper inserts leftover from the newborn days, before I switched to cloth diapers. Last night, I folded one in thirds and put it right where the pee comes, and she wore a 1-size-up disposable diaper. It was the heaviest diaper ever this AM, but it was contained.
I'm going to be making some pocket (cloth) diapers this weekend and stuffing them with microfiber car towels and hemp/cotton fabric. Soaking through is no fun! I also have the crib triple-sheeted with alternating layers of rubber sheeting (from Joann's fabric store, check the home dec section) and cotton crib sheeting. It's easy to change in the middle of the night by stripping off the wet layer and leaving it in the laundry room until the next morning.
Sorry, 1 more thought - have you tried double diapering Isaac? Cut a slit in the back of the first one before you put it on him so the pee can go through, then put a second one on. A lot of people say this works for older children, provided that the "peep" is still pointing downward for boys.
Sorry the overnights aren't working. That was all we used for the boys and we didn't have problems with them at all. In general, I'm not a Huggies fan, but they did what they were supposed to do. I've seen that Pampers has and extra absorbant diaper out now. It's not called an "overnight" diaper. I'll do a search and see if I can find it online. Maybe those would work better. Having to clean up soaked through kids night after night is no fun.
I always had to use 1 size bigger at night than I used on my little one during the day. I never had any luck with Huggies. She always wet through them, even when she was little bitty.
Do they still make rubber pants like they did in the 'olden days' like when you were a baby?
Thanks for the birthday wish, Wendi! Sorry about the bad news... It seems like you are handling things very well though!
Hey Wendi :) I've been going through the same thing with Tyler! I've washed more bedding in the last month then I care to admit. The Huggies Overnights have worked for me, but it just fries me having to buy those darn things ON TOP of regular diapers! Hope you find a solution that works!
We had the same problem. We had to use the overnights then on top of that I would put a potty trainning cloth pant with a plastic liner.
Wendi, I haven't checked in with you lately, so I guess I missed all this! I didn't have time to read all the comments, so I suppose what I will suggest has already been suggested, but here goes anyways. I put on 1 or 2 sizes larger at night time and just fasten them tightly. Also, I have tried using a regular diaper PLUS a size larger on top. I would make a cut in the first diaper so that whatever it can't hold can come straight through to the larger diaper. Hope you get something figured out, I know that is no fun!
Just saw this post. I would second going a size bigger...or one of my friends buys poise pads and puts that inside the diaper.
