Review: Channie's Visual Handwriting & Math Workbooks

The Quick & Neat Alphabet Pad from Channie's Visual Handwriting & Math Workbooks is so simple in concept but what an incredibly POWERFUL inclusion it has been in our homeschooling library. I am truly going to RAVE about this product, and I really think you need to consider this if you have young children you are homeschooling.

I actually received it to review for Abigail (my kindergartener.) I tried it with Hannah who is in Pre-Kindergarten, but she is just not quite ready to write yet. However, Abigail nearly has better penmanship than her third grade brothers so I decided to try it with her brothers also. And man oh man did I see some incredible improvement in their handwriting as we used this each day.

The concept is very simple. The writer looks at the guide, pictured in my son Sidge's hands below. (It is really hard to get third grade boys to just be themselves when they take a picture!)

Each page is set up just like the one pictured below. See what I mean? Super simple!

Each of my kids then took out their own paper (there are 80 pages in the book) and rewrite the letters on the own page using the guide. Here were the results from my kids. This was on about day five:

I was so impressed by how much the handwriting of my kids was improving using this every day. It took the kids roughly 5-10 minutes to do a page. They didn't complain. And they seemed to enjoy watching how well they were writing. I can't emphasize this enough: for such a simple product it was such a HUGE success in our home.

Those of you who know me know that I am cheap. (I like to use the word frugal but truthfully "cheap" is probably a bit more accurate. I try to avoid purchasing something whenever I can; however, after seeing how successful this simple pad was in our house, I am tempted to buy quite a few more of their products and definitely more of their pads. They were a huge success!
