Today I'm Just ...

... missing my Dog.

He was such a good sport. He put up with these four kids like no other. (Yes those are stickers down his back when he was dealing with a skin condition and he's moving for an ear nibble of one of the boys.)

I just took a walk across the vast darkness of our farm to put the chickens to sleep. As I walked, I saw Scrubs' grave. And I thought: "I'd really like to pet that dog one more time."

I wonder if I'll ever not miss him.

I have taught 3rd grade Sunday school for many years. When a grieving child asks me if dogs or cats or bunnies or fish go to heaven, I pass on something I read many years ago. I don't remember where. It's not a Biblical reply, but I feel sure it's true. "If, when you get to heaven, it wouldn't be heaven for you without your animal you loved by your side, God will have your animal there for you."

I believe that with all my heart.

Thank you Jan. I have a book "Dog Heaven" that I love.
