Defining what decorating style you most like will help you know what elements you need to include in your design to obtain that particular look you are aiming for. It will also allow you to focus all of your efforts on your plan and not get distracted by the many other possibilities.
Take some time examining these styles and reflect on what catches your eye. Once you make a decision to commit to one of them, you will be one step closer in obtaining that fabulous room you always wanted!

So ... what is your style?
Mine is Eclectic. I love spaces that mix new pieces with old, look put together yet casual, and combine a bit of deluxe with simplicity.
Check out some pictures of my living room:
BEFORE
AFTER
The top picture shows how the previous owners decorated the living room. The second one reflects how the room looks now. We added a built in and board and batten on the walls. We changed the color of the room and use curtains and blinds for texture. We also rearranged the furniture to a parallel layout and added a gallery wall and many accessories for visual interest.
Remember, you can make any room your own! Just follow your plan! And now that you have defined your style, you can start collecting pictures to gather ideas.
In future posts, we will talk about color. Color will pay a very important part in your design. Start thinking what type of atmosphere you want to create and what colors speak to you!
Leave a comment below and tell me what your decorating style is and why you like it. I'd love to hear from you!
XOXO,
Angelica

My style is subtly eclectic with a traditional backbone. I love clutter-free inviting spaces with neutral palettes, pops of color and a lot of natural light. Visual interest created through textiles and other focal points like gallery walls or a great lighting fixture. Love what you did with your livingroom!
