A few months ago, Sidge wrote on the Calendar in his room: "National Baby Bird Day." We had no idea why he did it, but he's been into National birds and holidays so we just accepted it. The date he wrote it on was May 21. We all forgot about it.
Two days ago, JB and Isaac were in the yard when they found a baby bird. It was a juvenile Carolina Wren (Thryothorus ludovicianus) that could barely fly. They brought it in the house to show everyone before letting it go. (Contrary to popular belief, touching a baby bird does not prohibit the mom from taking it back.)
Then we looked at the calendar. May 21. Quite a coincidence!
