Review: The First Christmas Ever

I just finished reading The First Christmas Ever.

When I first received the book, I was a bit disappointed. It was a little small -- sort of an unnatural size for a paperback. (It feels and looks like a book you get for free with your Chik-Fil-A meal.)

However, I was immediately drawn into the book while reading it. The story is nothing new. It is a spot-on retelling of the Christmas Story, completely accurate. It includes the shepherds visiting the stable and the Wise Men visiting the family when Jesus was a boy. It even goes on to give a short telling of Jesus as he grew up.

But the illustrations were done using the vibrant and popular artwork of Dennis Jones. And that made all the difference. Jones' artwork can be seen in books, magazines, games, toys, and Sunday School Curriculum. He's illustrated several children's products including the Read with Me Bible and the NIrV Super Heroes Bible.

The illustrations alone make this small format paperback well worth a very inexpensive $1.99. Just in time for Christmas, it will definitely be a popular addition to our holiday reading!

Booklook Bloggers provided me with a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
