One thing I have not written about on my blog was the fact that JB has spent the last two years or so facing a lawsuit. It was something that happened during his first year of residency at Eglin Air Force Base. It was something that he was in no way responsible for. It was also something that the patients should not have even been suing for. It was not life-threatening. It was even life-effecting. Everyone who was in this person's medical record was named in the lawsuit. Including JB, a resident at the time.
We were so relieved to get word this week that the case was, not surprisingly, thrown out, and it will not appear anywhere in JB's record. Because he works in the military, this lawsuit couldn't have actually cost us anything. But it would, if the hospital at Eglin was found responsible, be in JB's permanent record. And we all know how that goes. No one knows about your permanent record until something big happens. And then suddenly, the whole world is looking through your personal business. (Take the psychiatrist of the recent Colorado movie theatre shooter. Everything and anything she has done in her life is now front page news for the world to read. Not fun.)
So Praise the Lord this lawsuit won't ever come back to bother JB again. And thank you to those of you who had been praying that this would, indeed, be something as good as non-existent. It is!
