Random updates and smiles

I feel I have a lot to say but fear it will appear I am the most scattered individual ever. Despite this fear, here we go:

  • Bri had an appointment yesterday. Heart rate was 140 for little XY, and he is weighing about three pounds! Next appointment is in three weeks. Bri, you are doing so well! Hang on! We are almost there!
  • Visitors to Eglin page has finally been updated following Josh and Sarah's visit. Check it out here. Tara (in Cali) I like you helping me edit. Can you check it out? :) (Seriously, not joking about that.)
  • I know there are some of you who have not participated in our "baby contest" at the top of the screen. Please participate if you want a chance to win a host of amazing prizes. (That's not true, actually, but c'mon, just play. It'll be fun!)
  • 101 Dalmatians comes out on DVD this week. I got an email from Joan (Bri's mom). I think she is going to get one for Bri and for me. Bri and I LOVED this movie (and Dalmatians in general) when we were both much younger. It brings back fun memories.
  • My buddy Kelsey sent me an email today. One of the girls in her youth group has entered a contest and needs our help to win a scholarship. Could you consider voting for her essay? You can vote two times per email address. You can read the essay and vote by clicking here. Kelsey's not a blog reader, so she'll probably never know I even posted this. She and I played phone tag for weeks last month, and Kelsey actually left a message that said, "Wendi! Call me! Otherwise I'll be forced to wade through three months of old blog entries to figure out what has been going on in your life!" Too funny.
  • If you read often, you remember me discussing little Sarah. She is having surgery on Wednesday. Sarah's family has created a "Caring Bridge" site. Her parents are fine with people visiting the site but would prefer I didn't post the web address publicly. Either way, please remember to pray for this family tomorrow and during the weeks to come.
  • More paperwork out the door today. Paperwork went to the lawyer in Florida for the May Baby adoption! This is happening so fast.
  • I saw this on my friend Ebby's blog. She got it from her friend Kristi. How funny is this? Ebby, thanks for letting me steal this (even though I really didn't ask your permission.)

Minnesota Poem
It's winter time in Minnesota
And the gentle breezes blow.
Seventy miles an hour
At twenty five below.
Oh, how I love Minnesota
When the snow's up to your butt.
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut.
Yes the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around.
I could never leave Minnesota
cause I'm frozen to the ground.

  • Paperwork is also out the door for our marriage certificate and JB's birth certificate. We have to send these to the capitol of their respective states to be "authenticated." In other words, I had to request a copy of the original and then get that authenticated. Does this seem strange to anyone? I have the original here, but I need a copy that they can say is "original." I don't have a "Rachel" to help me get these authenticated so I will send them on their own. Pray that deliver safely and return rapidly.
  • And in closing, JB sent my the funniest little email this morning. I wanted to share it with you. I know some of you are cat people and some of you are dog people. This email isn't meant to offend anyone ... just to make you all smile.

CAT DIARY
Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into
their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. CLUELESS!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage. Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again to morrow -- but this time .... at the TOP of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously dumb.

I LOVED the dog/cat journal! Sooo funny!

I've heard it said - You feed a dog, play with a dog, give it a warm place to sleep, and it will think "Wow, you must be a god!"...you feed a cat, play with a cat, give it a warm place to sleep, and it thinks, "Wow, I must be a god!"
