"For I am confident of this, that he who began a work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus ." Philippians 1:6
Once upon a time I begged God for children. I would have given nearly anything in my life to be a mom.
On Thursday, my husband and I took just our family of six to Dollywood. We don't often get to do things just the six of us. We often have company, wwoofers, family, someone else in tow.
But last night just the six of us headed down to Pigeon Forge. This time of year the park is only open from 2-9pm. It was cold but we dressed perfectly for it and the sun was out with no wind or snow or rain. There were no crowds, and we did every ride we wanted (and all the rides I don't want to do but have to do because Hannah isn't big enough to ride without me) and had Cinnamon bread and watched our friend Miley perform in "Smoky Mountain Christmas."
It was one of those evenings that parents sort of dream about in their brains before they are even actually parents. It was just wonderful. No diaper bag. No stroller. No butts to wipe. Just four kids and two parents and an empty park and a beautiful night and the family I always hoped I would have.
Despite the fact that life is crazy and not always easy, truly I am blessed. At the same time, I have SO MANY PEOPLE in my life right now going through hard, hard, hard, hard things. Like HORRIBLE things. My heart bursts with joy and yet grieves so much the next moment.
But for this one night, I let myself remove myself from pain and simply enjoy my four little miracles. I still cannot BELIEVE I get to be a mom!

Hannah had been a little under-the-weather so too many dizzy rides left her a little befuddled for a few minutes. |
Our friend Miley was simply AMAZING in Smoky Mountain Christmas. Not only was she great but the show was simply OUTSTANDING and such a great testimony to Christ's birth. |
I got to sit with Jama (Miley's mom) during the show, and afterwards, we took a photo with Miley. |
