Review: Winnie The Early Years

A great series targets younger readers

Dandi Daley Mackall is the author of the Bestselling Winnie the Horse Gentler series. This series sold more than half a million copies and taught kids around the world about faith, kindness, and horse training.

Mackall has now created a series for younger readers entitled Winnie The Early Years: Horse Gentler in Training. At just 13 chapters and 73 pages, this book is very digestible for younger children. My little Abigail, who is 7, had no trouble with it at all. I would set the age range about 5-9.

When Winnie's snobby classmate threatens to stop boarding his champion thoroughbred Princess at the Willis family ranch, Winnie has to come up with a tricky solution to convince him to let her stay. She learns that with God, all things are possible!

In addition to the story, this little book also has "fun horse facts" and a drawing of the sections of a horse, and a glossary of horse terms.

What a fantastic little book. I look forward to reading more!

P.S. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
