Review: Kidzaw.com

Kidzaw
I just LOVE products that making adding art to our homeschool day a breeze. And with products like the Master Kitz The Starry Night from Kidzaw.com nearly anyone can create a masterpiece.
So how does this work? Well, because I am going to show you what we did through pictures. Here we go.

Firstly, the kit arrives in the mail:
Abigail modeling our kit which came in a very cool box!

And then it was time to unwrap the box and see what was inside:
The kit comes with two sheets of paper to create your masterpiece. Because I planned to do this with more than two children, I bought some extra poster board ahead of time. There was plenty of paint and supplies to do this with many children. Four of the nine children I homeschool did the project, and I am pretty sure that we would have had enough paint to do the project at least three more times.
Instructions:
FIRST STEP: Put stickers on! These black stickers block out the paper and prevent it from getting paint on it. We were able to easily peel off the stickers and re-use them four times.
SECOND STEP: Use roller to paint paper! If you look closely, you can see two other kids working on their paintings on the same table.
THIRD STEP: Ana is finished with rolling and about to pull tape off of stickers.
FOURTH STEP: Put down stencil and paint black. A quick note, the project does NOT include tape, but we had some painter's tape lying around. I would suggest having this available for the project.
FIFTH STEP: Remove stencil. We were able to easily remove this and move it on to the next child.
An example of the "finished painting" once tape and stencil has been removed. I put "finished painting" in quotation marks because at this point, your budding artist is allowed to work on the painting however they choose. There are oils for them to add their own personality to the rest of the painting.

Finished paintings:
FINISHED PAINTING: Ana (Age 11)
FINISHED PAINTING: Sidge (age 9)
FINISHED PAINTING: Kari (age 9)
FINISHED PAINTING: Abigail (age 7)
I personally think that kids under 7 might be a little too young for this project. Abigail was able to manage, but I don't think Hannah (age 5) would have been able to do it. In addition, my husband, who was a graphic designer in his previous life, isn't as crazy about art projects like this. He says that it's kind of "cheating." I actually disagree. I think anything that introduces kids to art and let's them try things is fun. Everyone really enjoyed this project. We also enjoyed reading about Van Gogh as we tried recreating one of his pieces.

Master Kitz The Starry Night was great fun for our family, and I would thoroughly recommend you trying some of their other projects!
