Duncanville

Do you live near Duncanville, TX? Do you know someone who does? Please pass along this link to anyone who might be able to help a missionary family who just had quintuplets. (They already have one older son.) While donations are always welcome, they also need real people who can help hold and feed babies!

Some people balk at helping people who have had a lot of babies through infertility treatments. They immediately picture the Octomom and think: "This family did this to themselves. Let them figure it out."

Firstly I want to say that Jesus would not do this. Jesus would not turn to the woman at the well and say, "You did this to yourself. Deal with it." The Prodigal Son did not have a father who did that either.

It is also vitally important to understand that infertility treatments are not always what they appear to be on the surface. Families like the Jones' are not like the Octomom who, through IVF, had many more embryos placed in her womb than should ever be placed. (She has 6-8 embryos placed. I will do 2 this winter.)

The Jones did not even do IVF. Some families, like the Jones', did IUI (artificial insemination). In this situation, the number of eggs created is not always obvious. In other words, what happened to the Jones' family, could have happened to me during one of our five attempts at IUI! You take drugs to help you create eggs and then the husband's sperm is "injected" into the wife's womb. If embryos are hiding on the ultrasound, you often have no idea that the possibility of so many babies even exists. When you take a risk and do IUI, you run the possibility that more eggs will fertilize than anyone was expecting.

Either way, help is needed. If you can be Jesus' hands on Earth, your hands are appereciated.
