I am not sure when I will get used to the dirt ... and the mud. Oftentimes, the kids will come in from being outside, and I will simply have to start an entire load of clothes -- everything they are wearing is covered in mud.
I have instituted a rule. You may not leave the fence surrounding our house without your boots on. Period. Abigail will go out there in her nice little tennis shoes (or even her dress shoes) and her shoes will end up ruined ... or nearly ruined. Boots are a requirement.
Even if the boots end up looking like the ones above. Unbelievable!
