So here's the truth. If you go to a farm that is pristine -- like if it has every single thing put away and nothing sitting out, then I guarantee you it isn't a real farm. I guarantee the people there aren't getting anything done. I've realized that it is simply .... impossible.
When we bought this farm, I told JB I wanted to make sure we didn't have a junky farm. And we have fought that with everything in us. But when you see junky farms, you kind of understand how it happens.
There is so much going on. So many things that get put on the back burner because there is another thing going on. So many little pieces of things that are needed. So many jobs waiting for a dry day.
Today, I quickly snapped some photos of our farm and the little things going on behind the scenes:
Boots, boots everywhere. |
Bird houses waiting to be put up for our feathered friends. |
New hoses and wood waiting to be used. (I don't think you can ever have enough hoses or wood on a farm.) |
Plants waiting for their permanent home. |
Piles of dirt from an irrigation line the guys were digging. |
Rocks from a hole that was dug ... waiting to be relocated to another spot on the farm. |
My clothesline which fell down during a storm. |
A water tote used to water some plants on the other side of the farm during a dry spell. And a paper plate for target shooting for Sidge. |
Our little mobile puppy kennel which allows us to move them to fresh grass twice a day. |
Smoothie cups for the wwoofers and a pair of work gloves lying around during a break from the heat.
