Car Tags
Believe it or not, we are STILL waiting to get our Florida car tags. This saga has become almost humorous to us. A quick refresher: we lost our title when we moved. Okay so after weeks of trying to figure out what it was we had to do to get a new title, we finally tracked everything down to a county in Kentucky that had a record of our vehicle. They send us a new title! Success, right? Wrong. For some reason, a bank in Kentucky was listed on the title which said we owed money on the car. Not true, but we had to prove this. We did prove it and were told to send in new paperwork. JB called them. Do we just need to fill out the form and send in the money? Yes. No need for notarization? No. So we did it. Yesterday, it was returned to us. We didn't get it notarized! Right, because you all told us we didn't need to get it notarized. This has been so frustrating. We are driving with expired tags again! Ugh! JB is working to get the paperwork notarized today, and we'll try to send it in. Again!
May Baby update
Many of you have asked me what the latest is on our "May baby" adoption. I spoke with Joan on Saturday and wanted to provide a short update. Bri and Chris met with our lawyer. The lawyer is actually a friend of Roy & Joan's in Fort Lauderdale, however, JB and I are actually the ones that hire him. He met with Bri and Chris as one of the first steps in the adoption -- to hear it out of the mouths of the people who have to sign the paperwork. Chris and Bri signed some preliminary paperwork. After that, there really isn't much to do until the baby joins us as he has to be alive and present before the adoption can occur. What we do know is that it appears little XY will leave the hospital with me and JB. Preliminary paperwork will be done in Fort Lauderdale with the adoption technically "finalized" when he is three months old up here in Destin. Many people worry about these details, but quite honestly, the people who are worried the least are the two families involved. We all have total peace about this journey and are confident that this little guy will be joining our family in less than three months! We are so excited.
Update on John
John has been on fantastic rotations for the last few weeks. He finished ambulatory on Friday and is now on Neurology. These are known as some of the best rotations of intern year. It is wonderful having John home earlier and also good for him as he needs to start studying for the Boards. We are going to Ashville, North Carolina with Matt and Tiffany at the end of this month so that our husband's can take the Boards, the third test in getting your license as a medical professional. The first two tests came during medical school.
John is also looking into a fellowship in "Wilderness Medicine." I don't understand all the details of this but basically, fellowships are sort of like an "add on" to your specialty (which is family medicine for John.) He has been working on the details for this program. This would not require an extra year of residency. It would be something he took classes on during residency. That's about all I know. All this stuff is confusing to me.
Jacksonville
JB and I are leaving for Jacksonville on Thursday afternoon and will return on Saturday afternoon. We are going t get to see Nicole and Bay while we are there. They offered to put us up at Bay's apartment, but since it is Valentine's Day weekend, we decided to get a nice hotel and have a little get-away. Scrubs will be staying with our dog trainer in Crestview. These are kennels, but not in the traditional sense. Dogs are let out five times a day and also have 1-2 training sessions a day. I think Scrubs will have a great time! Jodi is out of town, and while my friend Heather has offered to watch Scrubs, he can't be left home alone yet. When he can be left home alone, this will be an option.
