Seriously, ANYONE can do this. Really. It is not as intimidating as it sounds. There is a great website called Trifind.com where you can pick your state and find where the races are near you. There are short races, long races, and races that leave out one or more of the elements.
Let me know if you are planning or even thinking about doing one of these. I'd love to hear about it!

I am not doing the triathalon, but I am doing the Soldier Field 10 Mile run on Memorial Day weekend in Chicago. The longest I had ever run was the 6 mile distance (from WKU), but have been training for this thing the last few months. It will mark my year of getting back to shape since having Charlie (yes, he is two, but I got started late)!
My sister and I are considering one up here in the Polar North!! Now they just need to make one for dogs (can you imagine how funny that would be?!)
Hi Wendy,
Thought I'd leave a note to say that I've signed up to do my first tri-tri after reading about your journey with it. For any other (female) readers in Canada, http://www.womenstriathlon.com/ lists a bunch of appropriate races.
