Driving a Car from Portland: Conclusion

Oregon to Tennessee Trip Summary:

From the ocean of the Pacific Northwest in Oregon, we made it back to our farm in the Appalachian Mountains of East Tennessee. Our adventure took us right at 3,700 miles and through 13 states.

The mission was to drive my sister’s car from Portland, Oregon across the country. My sister, her husband, and their new son are moving (escaping?) to East Tennessee.

We crossed rivers, mountain ranges, deserts, forests, plains, and the Continental Divide.

We passed through the native lands of the Indigenous Peoples of the Great Plains, as well as the lands they were forced to live after being displaced. This included the Arapaho, Cheyenne, Crow, Iowa, Kaw, Lakota Sioux, Teton Sioux, Missouri, and Omaha.

We visited the first national park (Yellowstone) and the first national monument (Devil’s Tower) as well as over a dozen more other parks and protected areas of ecological and historical importance.
