Our Awesome Adventure

We have just returned from one of those "once in a lifetime trips." Even though we have spent time in Germany a lot since moving to Turkey, this trip was AMAZING! Other than Spain, this was the other big vacation we decided to take while in Turkey. (We wanted to do Israel and Egypt but both of those have been ruled out for various reasons.) What really made this trip amazing was that JB's parents: Ray and Mary flew out to do this vacation with us. They had never left America and hadn't seen the boys since we left America in July of 2010. So this was a huge trip for all of us.

Over the next two weeks, I'll be flashing back and showing you the wonderful time we had while in Germany. But for now, here is a broad overview of the trip we took.

We started by taking the rotator (military flight) from Turkey to Ramstein Air Base, Germany (A) on Friday, October 21. We spent the night there on Base, and left in the morning. JB and I each rented a car from Base, and we drove with our walkie-talkies from Ramstein to Munich, Germany (B). I had Abigail in my car. JB had the boys in his car. We got a hotel in Munich and spent the night on Saturday evening there. JB's parents flew into Munich, and we picked them up on Sunday morning from the Munich airport. We spent Sunday evening and Monday evening in Munich. On Tuesday morning, we left for Salzburg, Austria (C). We spent Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evening Salzburg. On Saturday morning, we left for Garmisch, Germany (D). We spent Saturday, Sunday, and Monday evenings in Garmisch. On Tuesday morning, we headed back to Munich, Germany (B). We spent Tuesday night and Wednesday night back in Munich. On Thursday morning, we dropped Dad and Mom off at the airport in Munich and headed back to Ramstein Air Base, Germany (A). On Friday, November 4th, we flew back to Turkey.

I believe you have the wrong Garmisch on your map. The Garmisch you went to is south of Ramstein and in the state of Bayern like Munich.

Can't wait to hear all about your trip!
