Why not?

Why isn't now as good of time as any to unveil our new little guy's name? I'm sitting in our hotel room waiting for JB to get done with his last session of the day. Isaac is trying to take a nap, but this noisy hotel has caused some difficulties in that department. Entertaining a five month in a hotel for three days isn't the easiest thing I have ever done . . . but that's another topic entirely.

So I thought to myself, what can I do to pass the time?! Aaahhh, I can blog the name of our new little guy. (Actually I am not bored, whatsoever. Between work and Isaac, I am plenty busy, but it still seemed like a fun thing to do.) Since our new little boys' name is official, and since we have begun letting it out to friends and family as the opportunities avail themselves, I thought I should just go ahead and unveil it on the blog so that we can quit calling the little jumping bean (JB & I actually saw him move last night in addition to feeling him all the time) a lima bean and actually start calling him by his name: Elijah Luke.

So there it is. Now the bigger picture. The reason behind our choice? Well . . . Elijah means "The Lord is My God" which seemed to fit well with our celebration of the addition of this child into our lives and the miracle that we all know he is. Luke is just a name that goes well with it and that we both liked. He was also the physician which is kind of cool as well. We wanted to try and do an Old/New Testament combination again as we did with Isaac John, and I think we found a combo that we both really like. We both only know one Elijah (Elijah R.) and he is a great kid so that didn't turn us away from the name. It only takes knowing one bad person to ruin a name forever. I had a few people in elementary school who were mean to me. I can't name my children after them for crying out loud! So those names are crossed off my list forever. We also think Elijah goes well with Isaac. They are both solid, Biblical, strong boys' names.

Many people have asked me if I have had names picked out forever. Definitely not. I mean, once upon a time, when JB and I were first married, we would talk of names we liked. But as the years slowly passed by, and all of our friends started having babies and "stealing" our names, we gave that game up. Before finding out about Isaac, it had honestly been years since we had even breathed a name of hope in our house.

And now, we have two little names: Elijah Luke and Isaac John. Our boys.

So there you have it! The secret is out. I hope you like it. And if you don't, don't tell me.

Love the name! As far as the hotel noise, have you tried a fan? We don't leave home w/o a fan to drowned out unwanted noise. Not to mention living with 3 dogs who sometimes bark at the rustle of a leaf, we need to drowned that out too for the kids!
I hope your trip home is uneventful!!!!

I love your boys names, Wendi - and especially their meanings!
We do the fan thing too - and it seems to help tremendously.
We continue to pray for you and your family!

I love it!

My baby brother is Elijah, he turns 15 in two weeks and the name is so fitting. My Elijah was prophesied over prior to birth to be named Elijah(my mom had Josiah picked out) and that he would be a great prophet one day. And you know what, he already is! At barely 15 he is one of the best kids ever and so in tune with God. I love seeing him in church praying with all the other boys and he is the leader!

I hope your Elijah is a leader and prophet someday too, but alas, that is up to God to choose for him.

No matter what, he is loved by many. Now if only the next few months could fly by so we can meet him!

That is absolutely wonderful. We must be on the same "names" wavelength! My son's name is Luke, so of course I love that choice. We just happened to have a surprise pregnancy, no drugs, and if this one is a boy, his name will be Isaac. We have had our named picked our for a few years. Anyway, thank you for sharing. I'm so excited for you guys!

I love it! And I love even more the meanings behind both of them. My Mom was always into the meanings too, and I think that's really cool. I like that Isaac and Elijah are equal in the way that they roll of the tongue, the strength of the names, etc. Good choice!!

Amazing! Much better than Ackarack. We have some friends who adopted a baby and named him Elijah, then conceived their daughter less than a year later.

Great, great names.
