We Bought a Farm: Picking Day

Today has been a MAJESTIC day here on the farm. Beautiful weather (between 50-72 all day!) It really felt like Fall today!

We started by going out as a family (Jacob included) to pick Persimmons. These are quite an interesting little fruit. You can't pick them off the tree. You really need to wait until they fall. If you eat them before they are RIPE, they will leave a horrible cotton-mouth flavor with you for quite some time. (Isaac decided to try it today for a seventy-five cent bribe. He said it totally wasn't worth it.)

Here are a few pics we snapped of our adventures:

Hannah was NOT a good picker so we sent her up to the road to sit and wait for us. Abigail joined her.

Scouring the ground for Persimmons.

Isaac took this picture of my hubby and me. (I have a bunch of kids clothing stuffed into my jacket which is why it looks SO huge!)

We went back into the house and tuned in for virtual church. We often go to the Kotysnki's house, but this week, decided to lay low and spend some time with John (who has been working a ton.) He got word just this morning that another doc is sick which means he will have to pick up even more shifts this month.

After church, Jacob and JB went out to do some work with the sheep, and the kids and I picked tomatoes:
