We Bought a Farm: Chicken Processing Again

Today we processed 186 chickens.

171 of them were our birds.

15 of them were Gabe's birds.

We processed with: 
  • Our family of six
  • Grandparents
  • Jacob
  • Wwoofer Jake
  • Gabe and Eddie
We started at 7am. We had all the animals in the chill tank by noon. We were out of the garage by around 5pm. 

We didn't have as many people as we wanted because of all the Covid stuff going around, but we managed to make it work!

On Friday, August 7, we processed an additional 103 birds. We decided to break these down immediately and not weigh or label them.

We've never processed two days in a row so this will be another new thing for us.

Overall, the day went absolutely fantastically with no major complaints whatsoever. In the end, our first 171 birds averaged 4.56 pounds.
