We Bought a Farm: Sheep Check Day

Today was a "sheep check" day. On this day, we bring all of our sheep over to a makeshift "handling facility" we have set up. We check their hooves and numbers to make sure all is well with each sheep.

One lesson I have majorly learned when it comes to farming:

MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK

The more people we have, the better things go, so we always try to time our "big days" for when we have a lot of people available for helping.

We had good help today! Shane and Linda are in town with their little Eli so Shane helped, my cousin Eddie and his son Gabe helped, Jacob was here, Anni was here ... and my boys helped too. It was wonderful to have so many hands-on-deck to make the process go better! It took about three hours from start to finish but overall was a good success!

Gabe is holding our goat still for Anni. We have two goats and they are SOOOO friendly. Eddie and Jacob (off to the left) are working on hooves of another ewe.
My cousin Eddie taking a little nap while waiting for someone to come and clip his ewe's hooves. (We only had one pair of trimmers: next time we will have more to speed things up!)
