Review & Giveaway: Woodlawn -- WINNER ANNOUNCED!
Well, another Christian movie has come through for me!
I recently was given the opportunity to review the movie Woodlawn by FishFlix.com in exchange for my honest review, and I was not disappointed.
And if you keep reading, you have a chance to get a free copy of this movie!
While I didn't think that this film ranked quite as high as my recent Christian favorite: War Room, the quality of the production -- specifically the acting -- was right up there with any other secular sports movie I have ever seen. It was incredibly well done, and if you like sports movies, you will love this one.
This movie tells the story of the Woodlawn High School Football team. It is the true story of Tony Nathan, an African-American football player who would go on to play for the NFL. But before he could to go to the NFL, he had to earn a playing spot on his high school team. And this is 1973. While the 1954 landmark Supreme Court decision of Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka had mandated that public school be desegregated, in the deep South, such as Woodlawn High School in Alabama, the change did not come so easily.
This is the story of a school, a chaplain, a coach, and players who become motivated by a drive to move beyond the racism that surrounded them and instead excel as one united team. Unified by football, understanding, and the love of Christ.
If you would like an opportunity to win a copy of this film, please leave a comment on this post with your email address. I will pick one random winner in one week to receive a copy of this movie.
