Comfort

This past week, I received prayer requests from two different friends. Both requests left me sickened and numb -- sad and distraught. I was mad at sin. Mad at evil. Mad at Satan. Mad at men. Mad at this world we must all spend years in before entering our true heavenly home. One friend shared that her college-aged daughter was raped this past week. The other friend shared that her husband had left her and her two young sons for another woman despite her attempts to reconcile and forgive.

I was so saddened and angry that I didn't even know where to begin praying. But then the Lord told me to pray comfort. Obviously in the case of my friend facing the prospect of divorce, I am praying for a miracle in their marriage. But while believing for a miracle, comfort is still needed. These are two hurting women. And not only are they hurting, but their families are hurting too. So I pray the Lord's peace. Would you join me in praying for these two Christian women and those that are standing along side them during this time?

Dear Heavenly Father, your Word tell us that you are a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble (Ps. 9:9). You oh Lord are ___'s strength and her shield; help her heart to trust in You (Ps 28:7). You oh LORD are her rock, her fortress and her deliverer; you are ___'s rock in whom she takes refuge (Ps 18:2). During this difficult time Lord, stay close to the brokenhearted -- wrap my dear friend in Your arms. You tell us You will save those who are crushed in spirit (Ps 34:18). Though she has seen troubles, many and bitter, restore her life again; from the depths of the earth bring her up. You have promised to have her honor increased (Ps 71:20-21)! What a powerful promise in the case of betrayal.

Your word says: Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted (Matt. 5:4). ___ is mourning. Comfort her in her sadness. Revelation promises that you will bring peace in times of great sadness. "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." I pray this for ___ dear Heavenly Father. I pray that God comforts ___ and makes her not only comfortable but a comforter for other women hurting as she is hurting right now. Amen.
