Glad to be home

Saturday was such a beautiful day and other than JB being on call, we had the entire day spread in front of us. So, as soon as Abigail woke up from her morning nap, we (and that included Connie) decided to go exploring our tiny island. By tiny I truly mean that. Terceira is 155 square miles. (For comparison sake, Broward County in South Florida is 1,209 square miles.) This place is tiny!

Sidge's request was, "Let's go somewhere we've never been to." So we tried. We first stopped at "The Christmas Caves" (Gruto do Natal) but they were closed for the "winter." So we decided to do some other exploring. We ended up driving to the highest point of the island (Santa Barbara --elevation 3,035 feet) and viewing an extinct volcano. We did this trip once before with Joni, but the weather was bad and there was no visibility. Today, it was much better! Here are some pictures from our drive up and down.

We ended with a brief stop at a popular cheese "factory." It ended up being very small and not incredibly impressive, but we found it and ate Azoreans donuts outside the shop all the same.
