Swaddling 101

My husband is a fantastic swaddler. A few of you have asked me to have him demonstrate his technique on video. So, here it is:

This is so funny! Love it! Vic is our fantastic swaddler as well. He does the first two exactly like John, but we have never used the third wrap until this last baby. Loved it! I also loved even more another blanket from kippopatamus that is basically an extra large stretchy receiving blanket. You are able to get the effects of both blanket 1 and 2 in one!

Hm. It says the video is no longer available when I try to watch it.

OK, it worked. That was weird.

LOL! Good job John! I remember Bob always said, "wrap them up like a little burrito"!. :) They love it.

Hee, hee, hee. What a little cocoon-maker! Leave it to JB to be uber-technical about the whole thing :-)

OH MY GOSH! I think that this is funny in ways I can't describe and the scrubs just top it off!

That is one tightly wound bundle of fabulous! We use the swaddle wraps that you used last but that's it. I never saw a swaddle done with the little pockets that he made! Crazy interesting!

I love that Isaac snuck into the video. That's what all of Ethan's videos look like, too. Ethan, Ethan, oh yeah! And there's Ava! hehehe

And look at little Isaac walking around.

Reminds me of my boy. Never saw the pockets for the arms. Burrito is all I could think! :)
Way to go John...Ryan always did a better job than me! :)

Do you have any tips for transitioning out of a swaddle? Our little guy is 3.5 months old and, especially at nap time, goes down okay but then wakes 30-45 mins later inconsolable. He is now waking even when I do swaddle him for a nap and rarely will sleep longer than 30-50 mins max. during the day. Should we just cold-turkey it and let him CIO unswaddled until he gets used to it or do you have any tips to help transition from one to the other?

The transition out of swaddling is always a difficult one. We ended up doing a half swaddle letting their arms be out. It usually takes 2-3 days cold turkey and they get over it. But it's never fun :(
