Introducing Isaac John

This is Wendi, taking back over for Gabbi who did a great job holding the fort while we were on the road yesterday. Here are just a few photos of our son who arrived into the world on his due date, May 7, 2008 at 8:20pm weighing 7 pounds 5 ounces and 20" long. All of these photos are courtesy of Joan! She has done a fantastic job helping Bri and us during this journey. I can't say enough about her.

It would be wonderful if everyone who views this could take the time to leave a comment. We would love to have a record for Isaac of all the people who were praying and waiting for his arrival. Even if we don't know you personally, we'd love to know you were here.

To quickly recap, I had just finished having lunch with the wifia and decided to lay down. Around 2pm, JB came into the room. Scrubs jumped up on the edge of the bed, as he often does, and JB proudly told me that Scrubs had decided he wanted a brother! (This was quite cute as JB has told me 100 times that dogs are not siblings, they are dogs.) Anyways, I was half asleep and it took me quite awhile to believe that everything he was saying was truth.

We were blessed to be able to borrow Clay & Brittney's van, and were on the road by 3:30pm. We'd later get a call that Isaac had arrived while we were still about 5 or 6 hours from the hospital! Bri's labor had been very tough but was very fast, especially for a first time baby. We got the to hospital around 2am and went straight to see Bri and meet Chris (who was wonderful by the way!) We talked for a few minutes and then headed out to meet Mr. Isaac. Both Bri and Chris were amazing and encouraged us to go "see our son." They are excited to close a chapter in their lives as we are opening another. Bri was very happy that labor is over and behind her!

It was quite an ordeal to get JB and I back to hold Isaac, but once we were there we had the opportunity to spend about an hour with him, feed him, and change him. He is doing great. The only issue (which really isn't an "issue" at all) is that he has a little skin tag on his left ear. Joan likes it as she says it guarantees we leave the hospital with the right baby! It will be very simple to remove, either here or when we get back to base. Otherwise he is very skinny with very long fingers and toes. He looks just like what I'd expect a newborn to look like :) He also looks TONS like Brianna. I'll have to find a baby picture to show you but his nose and lips are Bri all over again. He has a little bit of light brown hair and light eyes (which will probably be blue or green as both Chris and Bri have light eyes.)

Anyways, we managed 3 or 4 hours of sleep. We hope that we will get to the leave the hospital with him on Friday night or Saturday morning and be back on our way to Destin by Sunday morning.

Thank you for all your love, prayers, encouragement, and thoughts! He has arrived. Right on time! To say that God answered our prayers is quite an understatement. We serve a faithful God who carried us during years of incredible pain to a place of incredible happiness. Praise the Lord.

P.S. I believe AD won the contest (you can click on it to see results!) I think I am reading it right? Gabbi? Can you confirm?

Dear Wendi, John and Isaac,

CONGRATULATIONS! Wendi and John-Welcome to parenthood; Baby Isaac, Welcome to life. Words cannot express the joy you are experiencing or the joy you have shared with others.

Like the ripples from a pebble falling in a pool of water lapping gently and coolingly around its sides.....Your news happens to be a rock flung in a deep mountain pool of tears (from yourselves, all who love you and all who have followed your journey)that you stumbled upon during the worst storm ever.

The storm ended abruptly, the SON came out and blazed in a bright blue sky, spreading his healing warmth over all He touched. You looked up faithfully believing and it was counted unto you for righteousness. As you watched, a rock was dislodged and tumbled past you falling into the deep pool which overflowed its confines and gushed down the mountain.

Isaac is a miracle who changed longing and sorrow into overflowing love and an abundant JOY beyond measure. All Praise to our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ....

Dearest Bri,

May our Heavenly Father rain down His abundant blessings on you and your family for your selfless act of love. May you be blessed with children of your own to love and cherish in the future and may you always know you are held in the highest of admiration and love to all who meet you in this blog and in person.

Sincerely with all my love,
Lizann Williams-Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.

I have tears in my eyes. They are joy filled, hope filled, arms filled kind of tears. I love open adoption!!!! I am praying for you all - birthfamily too! What an awesome gift of blessing!!

Shortly after our son was born, I stumbled upon this verse. For me it summed up our entire experience. It was an awesome reminder that GOD's plans are often so much better than our own:
Isaiah 25:1

O LORD, you are my God;
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for in perfect faithfulness
you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.

I pray you enjoy your time together with family and birthfamily alike. May God give everyone grace, peace and joy as Isaac's birthmom entrusts you with this AMAZING miracle.

Enjoy every moment Mom and Dad!! It's HERE!!!

Wendi -- As I hold my new little boy, I can't help but think about the first few hours/days and how excited I was for him to finally be here. I know that you have waited a much longer time for your little man than we had to so I pray that you enjoy every minute with him. It will go by so fast!! The only thing I can tell you is to spoil him and love him as he truly is a gift from above!!

I hope that one day Isaac and Charlie will get to meet (maybe at a Lady Topper reunion) as they will surely be buddies as they are so close in age!!

Beloved Little Bundle of Joy and Laughter, Isaac John:

Hello! My name is Kelsey. I am writing this at 11:15 PM Mountain Standard Time, which means I am only 15 minutes late writing to your mom and dad and you. For as long as you know me, I will always be this late. BUT I will love you and pray for you with such fierce devotion that perhaps you'll be able to overlook it like they do. =)

Your parents are capable of this fierce love, too, on a much greater scale. They are such beloved people of God that you should ALWAYS know you can turn to them for help, whatever the situation. They once floated me a raft once when I was sinking...

Dear little Isaac, you are such a gift from the Lord to all of us. I cannot imagine at this moment who you will be, but whatever God has in mind for you will be great because of the people he has given to form you and love you and hold you each and every day. Also, few things tell us more about the mission God has for us and the people God knows us to be than our names. Yours is Beloved Laughter. How absolutely beautiful...

A Few Always and Nevers, Tidbits and Silly Musings:

Never forget when you get older and think you are wiser than your mother and father that they changed diapers of yours with explosive diarrhea and remember this phrase in Latin from one of the early Doctors of the Church: "Amor notitia ipse est." In English it is rendered: "Love itself is a form of knowledge."

Do not seek after things that are too high for you.

Remember to dwell always amongst the poor in spirit for they will teach you to hunger after Heaven.

Above all, remember that the prodigal son is blessed because although he sins greatly, his heart has the capacity to love greatly and in a way unknown to the elder son.

Don't be afraid to cry.

Treat your brothers and sisters nicely. They will always try to do what you do and be like you in every way.

Always try to expand your heart by giving to the poor.

When you get older, open the doors for the ladies. Everyone respects a gentleman.

Bless the Lord always, who gives and who takes away, for his gracious love is never ending.

In the love of gentle Jesus, under whose banner we all pray to lay siege to heaven,
Your GM,

Kelsey Cakes

Wendi and John,
What a beautiful little blessing - Isaac. Your faces show your 'happiness
and excitement' over the little guy. And his little face shows
'contentment'. Congratulations and blessings to all three. Lois

John and Wendi and little Isaac,
The Lord is good and greatly to be praised! I still marvel at the details of your story and how perfectly it all fits together. My husband and I were commenting last night how it seems to have the finger of God all over it! What a blessing to finally, after all the years of crying to have a son! And you may find yourself doing some crying of a different kind in the next few weeks. Oh how refreshing the tears of joy!! :)

Rejoicing with you,
Joanna

Wendi -

Congratulations on the birth of baby Isaac. He is precious! I am a long-time lurker - I know about your blog through Hannah's Prayer. My husband and I are currently in the process of adopting, too. Isn't it the most amazing thing?!

I have been praying for you guys and for Bri, too. What an amazing young woman she is - It takes unbelievable maturity and sacrifice to do what she has done. Wow!

I hope that these next fews days and weeks bring you great blessing! Congrats!

I already wrote yesterday, but after seeing 116 comments on this blog...how could I not be included! Let's just say the only thing I DON'T like about you two is that you live so far away. I can speak for all us Huismans up here by saying we've been thinking about and praying for you guys so much that God knows all of us very well! We're so happy for your new blessing and can't wait to make some memories with Isaac!!!

I came over from Joia's blog... just wanted to say how moved I have been reading your whole story. I can only imagine the joy of holding your Issac in your arms after all your longing and hoping and praying. I thought of the verse "Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart" and know that you are enjoying cuddling that answered desire right now. "It is the Lord's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes"! Have a wonderful first Mother's Day, Wendi.

I didn't realize the struggles you both had been through! God has blessed you richly. I have been unable to bear children as well. Divinely, God blessed me with a stepson and now we are expecting our second granddaughter in September! All three of you have been truly blessed.

What an inspiration!

Words cannot express how deeply happy we were when we got your call and read the bog of Isaac's arrival into this world. To see the pictures of your little guy brought tears to my eyes and joy to all of our hearts. We are absolutely THRILLED that you are now holding your son in your
arms.

Welcome, Isaac! God has big plans for you. He has given you an amazing mom and dad! May He fashion and form your heart to be after His own heart at an early age. May He fill you with wonder for the world and a hunger for knowledge and a joy of life. May He use you to bring Glory to His name. May you be a reconciler of men to God. May you have a fiesty spirit! May you never be afraid of what people think of you. May you be fearless in the fight for what is right! May you be courageous in the face of adversity. May God allow us the privilege of knowing you as you grow.

Blessings to your entire family. We can't wait to come visit you in June.

XOXOXO
