Bara, you are sort of right. Actually, men can be a babe as well. It is sort of affectionate term. Couples call each other
"sweetie", "Sweetheart", "love,"
"babe", etc. All of them are interchangeable for either sex IF you are a couple.
However, normally if a woman was talking about a guy that she didn't have a relationship with, she wouldn't call him a babe, she would probably call him a "hunk" so you are sort of right.
