In a nutshell:
- I am the next woman on Dr. G's delivery schedule!
- As of Friday, I'll be 36 weeks and will for-sure deliver here at Eglin. (Anything earlier goes to Pensacola or Fort Walton Beach where they have a NICU.)
- As of Friday, they would not try to stop labor if it started.
- Dr. G is guessing that Elijah is hovering in the six pound range right now. (She guessed pretty accurately with Joia and Andrea.)
- Dr. G's guess is that, if I make it all the way to 40 weeks, we are looking at an 8 to 8.5 pound baby! (Please only offer me encouragement and not concern regarding this fact.)
- I was tested for GBS today. Hopefully that will come back negative.
- My weight is a little over what Dr. G would have hoped I'd have gained, but she said it is nothing to be concerned with. She allowed me 40 pounds, and I am currently at 43. She said, and I agree, that it seems every single one of my pounds is directly in my belly!
- My belly is still measuring 1 or 2 weeks ahead which is within the "normal" range.
- The rib pain, while unfortunate, is most likely due to the fact that Elijah is still head down, butt at my belly button, and feet in my right ribs.
- Elijah is, without a doubt, for sure, no question, still a boy! :)
Some of you have asked our plans for "help" during baby time. My mother-in-law and possibly my Mom are hoping to come up when I go into labor. My mother-in-law will stay to help for awhile, and then Joan plans to come in. Tara and Lesley are also hoping to make visits in late February. My mother plans to come back around the second week of March. I made a special request that she be here when JB does nights.
Speaking of JB, it looks like he will have some significant time off! He still has over two weeks of vacation we have not used. In addition, the military just approved a ten day "paternity leave" that he will be able to utilize. We are hoping that he gets to take a lot of February off! How awesome would that be?
Next appointment is on Thursday next week. Until then . . .

Well if it helps any, my Nicholas was my biggest at 8.6 and I had him natural. I think he was my easiest delivery! I know you will do great and I can't wait to meet this new little man. You and John are such good parents and it is such a joy to see you with Isaac!
Hans was 10 lbs...just think of that! Yikes!

8.5 is definitely doable, and so worth it! =)
oh wendi, you'll do great with 8.5 lbs! Austin was 8 lbs 14 ounces and he popped out with only 15 minutes of pushing! I'm sure all will go well. Glad to hear you'll have some help with two little guys at home and that John has some time off. Here paternity leave is 2 days (soooo not enough). I've been sending prayers and blessings your way...

Well, since I have NO experience delivering babies naturally, lol, I will still say that for size wise 8-8.5 is not bad at all! Grace was 8.9, and I do not even remember being terribly uncomfortable during her pregnancy, and I'm a wee little short person, ha!
At anyrate, 8-8.5 is good. I had a friend who had a 9.10 baby natually, with NO DRUGS!! At home! So even that's doable.
My little girlie was 8.13 but I had to have a c-section. We know folks who have naturally had 10 lbs. babies all the way up to a friend who weighed 16 lbs!!! His mother was a REAL woman! Don't worry!
And I had the strep both pregnancies. My doctor was not overly concerned either time. Seem to be no biggie...but I am no dr.!
Glad you have help. I know your CG will also do lots for you. Our church is awesome in this area! Please don't hesitate to ask for help. Glad all is well!
Honestly it is some of the best pain you will ever imagine in your life as it is all erased at the site of the baby that is placed in your arms. You'll do just fine, I have no doubts about that no matter what.

One of the best pieces of advise I received was to listen to what your body is telling you, relax, enjoy the experience as every moment is a precious gift.
Even when they put my IV in backwards and I watched the blood draining from me, I was like OK, this is something they didn't talk about in Lamaze class that might happen. LOL JB should get a kick out of that one since it was a military hospital. LOL :)
Veronica was 10.7 and look at her. Tall, skinny, and beautiful! NO epidural I may add.
Elijah will be tall, masculine, and handsome.

8 or 8.5 is a good size for a boy and not hard to do, I wonder how much longer you will go... Joia sure surprised me... so much for being there for the birth of the baby...

Largest baby I delivered was 12.5 I think (C/S). 8.5 is TINY compared to that! He'll slide right out! :)

Pain, Shmain - You'll love every minute of it. OK, maybe not "every" minute. But it's definately a fight worth fighting. You will come out with a beautiful prize!

Just wanted to come out of lurker mode and wish you good luck on the upcoming birth. Your blog was one of the first infertility blogs I read earlier this year (I've been TTC for 7 years, but hadn't gotten into the blogs until 2008), and I found it enjoyable and very helpful. I left off reading when Isaac was soon to be born. I was quite shocked, then, to check back in now and discover that you are soon to deliver. What a difference a year makes.
I'm sure Isaac will be a wonderful big brother, and Scrubs clearly is already a great dog-brother.
