Spotted my first Zebra Swallowtail (Protographium marcellus) today!
Cool fact: The caterpillar of the Zebra Swallowtail feeds only on the leaves of the Pawpaw (Asimina species).
We have a few Pawpaw patches on our farm, in small valleys near the moist soil. Not surprisingly, I saw the butterfly about 50 feet uphill from one of the patches!
A flower from one of our Pawpaw trees (Asimina triloba). This photo was from a few weeks ago; by this time, most of the flowers are gone.
