Just some of our puppies

We are so excited about Arabelle's fourth and final litter of puppies. If you want to see TONS of videos and pictures, hop over to our Facebook page at: Bauernhof Kitsteiner's Australian Shepherds. But for now, here are just a few faces from our past litters!

"Bronco" Litter 3. My nephew Gabe is the owner of this beautiful Blue Merle Male.

"Colt". Owned by the Lane family. Red Merle born in litter #2.

"Finn" owned by my good friends Yamil and Patty and their little guy Troy. Born in litter #1. He's a stunning Blue Merle.

"Jax". Litter #3. He went to Joni's niece's daughter in Vermont!

Baby Girl

"A true friend leaves paw prints on your heart."

Our Dear Ritter. If you leave a stuffed animal where he can reach it, he will pick it up and bring it to his dog bed. If given long enough, he will begin chewing it and eventually, you will no longer have a stuffed animal.

This could have been the story of Abigail's "Baby Girl" except we found her halfway through her Ritter-chewing. Kari was there, and as Abigail cried, Kari, who is incredibly artistic and "handy" with sewing, told Abigail she would fix "Baby Girl."

A week later, and here she is. With a little help from Kari's mom (our Aunt Hannah) and she's truly as good as new. I told Abigail that while she has some patches, we will always look at her and remember Ritter -- long after he is gone. The patches have actually created a stuffed animal that will be very difficult to get rid of.

PUPPY UPDATE: Abigail

Here is Abigail the human with Abigail the dog just before we handed her off to his forever home. Abigail the dog went home on Tuesday, June 12. Abigail the dog is spirited and appears to have the most energy of all the pups! She is a feisty and fun bundle of fur!

Abigail's new family has become an incredible special one to us. Toni and I became friends through ballet. Her granddaughter Cali was getting a dog. And then, while visiting the pups at our house, this happened. Please continue to pray earnestly for John and if you can, donate to a gofundme we have set up in Cali's honor.

I plan to keep one Blog page going for each of our seven pups so that we can see what they are up to and doing. We are excited these are ALL going to families we know so that we can stay in touch with them through photos and maybe even in person. New pictures will go under these words with a date below each picture so that our family can watch these little beauties grow.

I must tell you that doing these puppies has been one of the funnest and finest things we have done on our farm. Not only has it been a financial help to the farm, but it has brought us immeasurable joy. We DO plan to do another litter in the spring and are already compiling a list of people interested.

Abigail (the puppy) goes home

"Whoever said you can't buy happiness forgot little puppies." Gene Hill

How hard would it be for one little girl and her Grama to admit that a puppy they have been raising since April would be happier in another home? My dear friend, Toni, lost her husband after a fall at our farm back in May. In the midst of his death and caring for her sister and her granddaughter, Toni and Cali decided to still try to raise Abigail. But after being in their home since June, Toni and Cali made the excruciatingly difficult decision that Abigail needed a home which could give her more exercise and attention.

Here's a picture of Cali with her little Abigail (the dog):

Now here is where the story, however, gets beautiful. Toni contacted me telling me that they had made the decision, and she was wondering if I might know of anyone that would want to have Abigail. She wanted to personally see that the home Abigail went to was a perfect one.

My online friend Andi had contacted me a few months ago telling me that she was interested in a puppy the next time we had a litter. She wasn't sure they would take one, but it was a major consideration. Her younger son, Evan, has a ton of energy, and she wanted to get him a dog that could keep up with him.

However, Andi lived in Texas. Dallas. Would they really be able to drive out and pick up a dog? After a brief discussion with her husband, they decided to leave the next day and join us on the farm.

Here is the first picture of Evan with his new dog:

There were many tears this day. It was wonderful and emotional and happy and sad all rolled into one. But we all knew this was for the best of Toni's family and Abigail.

Here's Evan with his dog:

And here are a few pictures of them traveling back to Texas that Andi has sent me:

While I know some people (including me) get frustrated with social media and the inundation of communication in our society, I love the connections I have to people through this amazing online world. Andi and I had never met before. Twelve years we've been in touch online. And now we share the genes of a dog.

Sometimes, I love seeing the world go 'round,

Finally Meeting Andi

"Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one." C.S. Lewis

Over the twelve years I have known her online, Andi and I have hoped and thought about meeting many times. I had many friends online during my years of infertility, but only a few truly held up as our lives moved from infertility to parenthood. But Andi. Dear Andi. When we finally saw each other yesterday, there were tears in both of our eyes. A dozen years and six children later, here we were on my farm in TN with only about 18 hours notice. I thought about writing the story myself. But then I realized I would let my friend, Andi, pictured with me below, tell it for us:

So that crazy spontaneous and quick trip to TN? It was to meet a very sweet friend I've know for about 12 years now. We met years ago on an online infertility group and we followed each other back when we both blogged. (She still does.) And then technology changed and we mostly kept up on FB and now IG.

This amazing lady and husband and FOUR kiddos are successfully living their life dream on a farm in TN. Which includes farm dogs to help with herding sheep and chickens. One of those little farm dogs is now ours. There's a story behind her, but I'll share that in a separate post. In the meantime I'm just basking in the surrealness of seeing all six of our miracle children just hanging out. The ultimate gift this weekend was not even just the pup, but being able to hug each other's necks in person!

Suffice it to say, one day with Wendi on the farm was just not enough, so we'll be back for another longer trip soon!

P.S. Tune in tomorrow to hear the full story of that little dog that finally brought Andi and I together in the Smokey Mountains.

Ritter Jr. Comes for a Playdate!

Our former housekeeper, Robin, brought her dog Ritter Jr. for a playdate today. (Robin recently took a full-time job at Lowe's so her daughter-in-law is helping us now.)

Oh was it fun to see Robin. Not only did we have a blast getting to see Ritter's mini-me, but the dogs were soooo excited to see Robin as well.

(You can tell who Ritter Jr. is in the pictures below due to the blue harness he has on and the one ear that always sticks up!)

PUPPY UPDATE: FN 1287 (Finn)

Here is Abigail with FN 1287 "Finn" the day before we handed him off to his forever home. Finn went home on Wednesday, June 13. Finn has been one of our favorites from the beginning. He's just such a mellow pup with absolutely adorable markings.

Finn's new family is one that we are well connected to. Yamil and Patty were stationed on Eglin AFB in Florida with us and then joined us in Turkey for a year. I was able to meet their little Troy before we left Turkey. They are now out of the military and living in Tampa with their six-year-old boy. We are hoping to visit them in February and get to see "The Finnster."
