I do not miss the incredible cold in Minnesota for what can be up to 8 months of winter. (And don't say that isn't true locals. We had a snow in May when I lived there and a snow in October. That's 8 monts!) But while I don't miss the cold, I do miss the beauty of snow. It was such a reminder to me of God and his creativity. (Especially when I was inside the warmth of my house watching it and not having to drive in it.)
I still have many, many friends in Rochester. Hope you all stayed safe and warm.

I live in the cities and I had 19 inches of snow this weekend. At first, it was a tad frustrating to be stuck inside the house two weeks before Christmas. I had a list a mile long of errands that I hoped to accomplish. In the end, it was a blessing, and a beautiful way to celebrate advent. I was forced to slow down and really focus on the season. Erin
18" in Roch! :) And it IS beautiful. We had a whole weekend at home, unable to leave the house, and like Erin said...a blessing. But for a native like me, it's not Christmas without a blizzard (or 2)!
Yep, 18" of snow. With the wind, we had >2 ft in our driveway. And it was -11F last night. Good times.
We had 21.5 inches this time! I've lived in Minnesota my whole life and I've never minded the snow. It's the super bitter cold that gets to me. Negative degrees and a windchill make for a very difficult winter!
Your ND friend has a ton of snow too! We did not get hit as hard with the storm Minnesota received. The snow truly is beautiful! Looking forward to a white Christmas! Never had one before.
Don't ya miss it, Wendi? :D For us it wasn't the amount that fell but the drifting at the end of our driveway. We had 3 ft drifts to shovel out of. Why we don't have a snow blower I don't know. We were able to borrow our neighbors blower. It still took about 2 hrs to blow out.

We had a metre (yard) of snow fall this weekend alone, albeit not in Rochester. http://heatherbassoon.blogspot.com/2010/12/why-yes-we-do-have-five-feet-of-snow.html
I don't know the total in Rochester, but we're up in Shakopee now and we got 21.5 inches.
